Chronic Anxiety

In many ways, I think it should be obvious that I put every effort into being brave, even objective. I place a lot of effort into examining and researching the topics I cover here. Many of my articles are the final result of prior drafts, revisions, fact checking. Yet still presented in an accessible form that almost anyone can understand.

I know that in some cases where I try to be objective, I come across as far more biased. That’s because I must continually confront blatant, mindless, brainwashed bias. As I have said many times, the cult mindset. I never hide the fact that I am a Progressive, yet find being such to be the most objective and truthful way to be. After all, in many cases it involves standing for policies which do not benefit me directly. Though I try and express how issues which may not seem to affect us always do in some ways.

I have explained how universal healthcare benefits the economy, while our current system damages the entire economy. I have done the same with “free” college and capital gains. I could go on but that’s a short list of examples. In all, I show how capitalism and elitism consistently do more damage than good to our society.

It may not appear to some that I have researched subjects for the fact that I generally intentionally omit sources. I have said since early on in this blog that this is on purpose. When providing sources, I have watched too many other writers spend more time defending sources or comments which divert to attack the source material. I leave it to the reader to do their own research. I will continue moving forward.

Where my own research comes in, sometimes it is also difficult to name my sources because I have studied (formally and informally) numerous subjects for at least 30 years. Economics, marketing, psychology, government, business. On top of being a nurse in my 25th year. When writers name specific sources, it often means they are regurgitating material which is not their own. We see reports of reports of reports based on opinions. My content is nearly all original. So, my source is myself based on years of observation. I give plenty of methods where the reader can observe and verify the accuracy of those observations.

To the same end, I also frame many things in the form of questions. Thus encouraging readers to think for themselves, realize what questions they have not been asking. Realize what questions too few people have been asking, no matter how obvious the questions should be. How this is most horribly true with corporate media. For a good example of how I frame issues as questions, see my recent piece on gun rights, hereThe “sources” who always object to you asking questions are the very sources who should always be questioned most. The “sources” who claim to be above questioning are the sources who should be silenced entirely. The “sources” who claim you are not allowed to see/hear evidence or cannot explain their own positions in their own words should be shamed into silencing themselves.

With all the conflict going on, all the fake news, all the propaganda, all the obvious questions never voiced, all the effort of taking complex subjects and explaining them in simple terms, many times this kind of writing becomes stressful. Toss in being a prison nurse, a father with shared custody of my teenage daughter, being single while in an exclusive relationship while maintaining my mundane life.

Of late, my biggest stress tends to be coming not from the right but from the center-left, the Fauxgressives content with platitudes of universal healthcare while ignoring the risk of war with a nuclear power. not concerned in the least with sanctions killing tens of thousands in other countries thanks to their economic structure. Not giving a damn that the goal is selling off Venezuela’s resources to the highest corporate bidder in the US. Willing to completely forget being themselves called “Russian trolls” by their anointed godhead. I have not forgotten, never will forget and have been waiting for a nonexistent apology for 2 1/2 years now.Completely willing to ignore election fraud by the DNC and what that means, while still insisting this to be a “democracy”. Thinking one person or small group of people asking for their hard-earned money is a substitute for completely eliminating corporate money from our electoral and legislative systems. The best these cultists can offer is “nobody’s perfect” or asking what cult I follow.

Fuck every damn one of you, I follow the cult of rational, critical thought, holding elected officials to account and not bowing down to your cult which is buried within another cult and all of you together are willing to sacrifice the entire planet for your own greed.

That is where it all comes together. You criticize other parties, other candidates for their greed and warmongering, while you seek your own gains and ignore millions of deaths, blindly deny the very real risk of complete obliteration of the planet, just as long as you get your piece of the pie. You behave with arrogance and petulance and outright hatred of anyone who refuses to join your cult.

Go ahead, slap each other on the backs and revel in your empty, meaningless, mindless, gutless, heartless insults. Tell yourselves you are somehow different from the very ones you claim to oppose. Greed and arrogance are greed and arrogance, no matter how you look at it. How do you really think you are different from warmongers when you are willing to ignore that your god is promoting the same wars? How do you think you are different from other cults when you make excuses, close your eyes and chant endlessly in hopes of drowning out the cries of reason? How do you think you oppose capitalists when your god walks in their path, himself worshiping at their feet in their temples and congregations?

Yes, thanks to the Fauxgressives who worship themselves, I now have chronic anxiety. Trump, our government in general, our intelligence agencies, MSM, gun nuts and bigots cause me enough stress. I only gain some hope from discussion and camaraderie with those who can see clearly, think rationally, question the narrative and stand independently.

You who worship false gods do none of that. You do not offer hope but diminish hope, strip it away and continue the same cycle which has demoralized this country. You literally worship yourselves.

Hate me. Unfollow me. Ignore me. Attack me. I refuse to drink the blood of the innocent from your chalice. I refuse to willfully pave my streets with the bodies of children in other countries. I will always stand by my values, no matter how you sell your souls for a false pittance.

This is the last chance, make no mistake about it. There are no more chances for incremental “progress”, for party loyalty, false narratives, sheep herding candidates, nationalism, cheering or ignoring wars, blaming “the other”.

I am your “other” and I am not going away or joining you. You will not destroy me or beat me down. You are too weak an adversary and you know your weakness. You can join ME and actually move left or you can stay in the middle and claim it is left. This anxiety discomforts me but will never break me. It takes nothing to break the followers of false gods because you are already broken, shattered, scattered pieces propping each other up.

Handing Trump Victories

This is a follow up to my previous article, here: https://medium.com/@russellmeyers_35963/if-you-support-trump-policies-you-support-trump-own-it-2d11506f9203

Some people still aren’t getting my point. Caitlin Johnstone said much of the same thing in her most recent article as I write this, to be found here: https://medium.com/@caityjohnstone/how-the-question-who-benefits-from-this-can-change-your-life-5bb175779afb

Of course, she and I have been saying this. Over and over, again and again. Millions of actual Progressives have been saying this over and over, again and again. I am sick of repeating it but here it is again- Both major parties are on the same side and it is not your side.

I really don’t care how much the Democrats claim to oppose Trump when they confirm his appointees, surrender to his aggression or rabidly vote in favor of his policies. I don’t care how much you want to scream, “Anyone but Trump” when you actively vote for people who endorse the most damaging thing about Trump- his policies.

If you only oppose the name and nothing else, you have absolutely no right to call yourself anything but a Trump supporter in disguise. You are not Progressive, you are not liberal. You are a Republican. You are even more damaging than Trump or Republicans because at least they are out in the open about who they are and what they stand for. Stop lying about it. You don’t care what atrocities are committed. You only care that they are committed by a pretty face with nice words.

If you actually oppose his policies yet remain blind to the fact that centrist Democrats have done all in their power to not only surrender to Trump but empower him even more, then you are just as damaging. You’re not paying attention to anything but what color suit or dress someone is wearing. You are willing to don pink pussy hats, break down in tears, scream at the top of your lungs and act offended/victimized by every tweet while you help them and him along every step of the way.

You may be even worse because you are willing to actively push for war with nuclear powers to vindicate your “poor me” attitude. You are perfectly willing to ignore the fact that the US has a first strike policy.

You paid no attention or just did not care that the 2016 DNC Convention was more militaristic than the RNC Convention. It was filled with uniforms and talk of “a strong defense” , followed by Russia, Russia, Russia and military budget increase after increase. Every penny handed to Trump, whom they claim they fear will start more wars. Yet as long as the Dems vote for it, it must be good, right?

What has been happening here is that the Dems have handed Trump an unending series of gifts. You have to be completely unconscious to think that the Mueller report or his testimony was a win for anyone BUT Trump. Even neoliberal pundits admit it was a complete disaster. Each time they have approved his policies or nominees, he has won. Each time they have caved in, he has won. He will be announcing this through 2020, pointing out that he has accomplished things and Democrats were too weak to stand up to him. Every word of it will be accurate. He doesn’t need to lie about that. Yes, he lies about the results but so do the Dems. If they tell the same lies, you play right along. No matter the results, his support gets stronger with each victory handed to him wrapped in gold foil, served on a silver platter by the Dems crawling on their knees and you behind them, kissing their asses.

Jimmy Dore has said on numerous occasions, “People would rather vote for a Republican who says they are a Republican instead of a Republican who claims to be a Democrat.”

If you want change, then that change begins with YOU. If you trust corporate warmongering Wall Street whores to change anything, you’re not paying attention at all and never have. It’s time to start. Not tomorrow, not after the next election. Now.

“Resistance” my ass.

Let me repeat what I have said uncounted times. If you are not part of the solution, then YOU are the problem.

If You Support Trump Policies, You Support Trump- OWN IT!!

I keep hearing people who claim to oppose Trump yet will support “Blue No Matter Who” (which I usually notate as Blew No Matter Who).

Understand this. You can NOT oppose Trump while supporting his policies. That is objecting to a name, not what the name literally stands for. The DNC, for the most part, are what I refer to as The Assistance. They vocalize opposition, then back his policies. Not openly. Not in speeches but in the bills they pass and actions they take.

The DNC has voted in larger percentage for a resolution to denounce BDS, which is your freedom of speech being condemned by your own government. They claim BDS opposes a two state solution. Yet BDS is a movement, not defined in this way. Know who opposes BDS? Trump.

While Dems claim fear Trump will start another war, they approved another military budget increase, now at $738 billion. Trump is happy.

Dems voted unanimously to extend AUMF powers, which actively enable Trump to wage not just the wars we are already in but create new ones.

Dems voted to extend mass surveillance powers for Trump.

In case you forgot or simply paid no attention, the Dems approved the tax cut for the rich, caved on DACA and handed Trump funding for his border wall.

With the latest round of border wall funding, Dems caved and made no demands for protections of immigrants.

Many Democratic voters have similar views on gun control to Conservative voters and Dem candidates are conspicuously silent on stricter gun legislation.

Dem candidates are either in favor of actions against Venezuela, at least in the form of sanctions resulting in thousands of deaths in the country. Military action against Venezuela will bring responses from Russia and China, who have invested tens of billions in the country. Voters may not know it but elected officials do.

While many say Trump is a Putin puppet, he has enacted the strongest sanctions against Russia since the Cold War ended while overseeing a massive military buildup on the Russian border. Our military is building bases in Syria against international law, where Russia is present to help Syria defeat ISIS.

Dems may vocalize opposition to Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal but are silent about his military threats and sanctions.

When Trump was speaking with North Korea, Dems opposed the suspension of war games on the NK border. They were only happy when war games resumed (at a cost of billions per year).

When Trump said he wanted to spend more money to upgrade nuclear weapons, did you hear any opposition from ANYONE in our government? Under the commitment set by Obama, we are already spending at least $130 BILLION a year, EVERY year to upgrade our arsenal of SIX THOUSAND, EIGHT HUNDRED nuclear weapons. That expense is not even included in our “defense” budget.

Have you heard a single word of criticism of Trump for increasing aggressive naval presence in the South China Sea?

Have you heard any “Resistance” to renegotiation of NAFTA? I haven’t.

So, the House passed a bill to increase the minimum wage to $15? Great. Now look at the timeline. It doesn’t reach the full $15 until 2025. By which time it will be irrelevant and still starvation wages. This is nothing but theatrics for election year. If Trump signs it, he gets credit. In fact, it leaves room for him to shorten that time frame.

This week, Democrats voted with Republicans to suspend the debt ceiling until July 2021. What does that mean? It means there is no longer any limit to federal spending until the target date. So, even if a Progressive manages to win office, the debt ceiling will be reimposed at that time. So if they try and pass Progressive legislation, chances are their hands will be tied. But Trump is happy.

Trump has stated he is considering declaring Antifa a terrorist organization. First, Antifa is a movement, not a group or organization. Second, their focus is in opposition to Nazism and fascism, hence the name which means Anti-fascism. Antifa is the ONLY movement directly opposing fascism in this country. Once again, this is YOUR freedom of speech if you oppose fascism/Nazism. Have you heard a word of opposition? Neutrality against fascism means surrender.

In the Russiagate debacle, corporate media began censoring pages and suspending or erasing entire accounts of those whom they deemed “Russian propaganda”. Mostly anti-war pages and pages revealing police misconduct. Even if it is done by corporations, censorship is censorship. Especially when done by corporations who work hand in hand with the government, even having contracts with the government. So once again this is your freedom of speech. Have you heard one word of opposition to this? In fact, I have heard many who claim to be on the left (sic) voice support for censorship.

More and more states are enacting laws which make protests illegal, especially against oil/gas/coal companies. Protesters have been arrested while seeking an audience with elected officials. To include disabled people. Ray McGovern, a military veteran and highly awarded CIA intelligence analyst, has been arrested twice, both times violently, for protesting SoS Hillary Clinton and then later current CIA director Gina Haspel. Not only have Democrats not spoken against these obliterations of your freedom of speech, they have endorsed these things almost 100%.

Have you heard any Democrats oppose Trump regarding the arrest of Julian Assange? I don’t GAF what you think of him, he is a journalist who revealed the truth over and over again. The Democrats also never spoke out against Obama’s war on whistle blowers like Manning and Assange. So, that is a direct attack on the freedom of the press and your right to hear the truth.

For the record, no, the charges against Assange and Manning have nothing to do with the leak of DNC emails. No, that cannot be considered espionage. The DNC is a PRIVATE organization, NOT a government agency. Most people don’t even know that, even though the DNC used it as a defense in court when they said they are under no obligation to provide a fair primary, even though primaries are paid for by your taxes.

This is a short list but should offer a good example. You people who think that voting Democrat means some form of opposition to anything but Trump’s name are delusional. If you support the people who enable and empower Trump, then YOU support Trump. It’s time to fucking OWN IT. No more whining, no more crying, no more asking how Trump gets away with shit. You want to know how that happens? Look in the mirror.

Or maybe you want to blame Russia?

Dems Condemn Trump’s Comment.. And?

The Democrats this week proposed a bill officially condemning Trump’s racist statements about four racially minority Congresswomen. Now, I absolutely agree that his statement should be condemned. However, then what?

This condemnation really accomplishes nothing. It changes no policy. It places no restrictions on Trump or anyone else. It is a non-binding statement of protest with no consequence attached.

This is all theater. Especially when these are some of the same Progressive women that Pelosi has had conflicts with based on policy and their Progressive views.

In March, the Democrats disciplined Omar for her statement that US elected officials who support Israel and oppose BDS actions are working for a foreign government. Her statement is true. They called her statement anti-semitic, yet Israel itself is a country, not a religion. The Israeli government represents the nation, not a religion. Semites are the people that inhabit or come from a specific region, so that includes Palestinians, whom Israel is openly conducting genocide against. BDS is a form of freedom of speech, in other words, a US citizen right included in our Constitution. Centrist Democrats have not said or done anything to oppose the numerous states that have enacted laws that allow suspension or firing of state employees who take part in the BDS protests. They’re too busy collecting AIPAC money.

Pelosi has had an ongoing battle with AOC on many fronts, becoming unprofessional and demeaning toward her.

Centrist Democrats, including Pelosi and Schumer, have not opposed Trump on policy. They caved on DACA, approved his tax cut for the rich, unanimously approved dozens of Conservative judges to lifetime federal bench positions, handed Trump powers of mass surveillance, AUMF powers, unrestricted trade negotiation authorization, caved on border wall funding, oppose universal healthcare and recently caved on funding for detaining immigrants with no protections included for those immigrants.

Fuck Pelosi and Schumer and all centrist Democrats and those who sheepdog for them. If you think that some toothless statement of finger-wagging during a time when CONgress should have been doing some literal work is “Resistance”, then fuck you too! This accomplishes nothing. It changes nothing. It does not undo any harmful policy, it does not introduce any policy beneficial to the American people (or anyone else) for the future. Get your head out of your ass and stop cheering for this trailer park, Jerry Springer type shit show. Start paying attention. You want better for this country? It fucking starts with YOU.

Russiagate Weakens This Country (And Is A Sign Of Weak Minds)

I’ve been following Russiagate since it’s inception in July of 2016. There was no valid evidence then. Two years later, there is still no evidence, even as rumblings say that Mueller is about to end his farcical “investigation” that never examined the DNC servers, where the allegations first began.

Seriously, what investigation never examines the alleged crime scene or summons the witnesses (Hillary, DWS, Donna Brazile, John Podesta) to testify under oath? That never asks the FBI why they never examined the servers?

In the 2 1/2 years since this began, we have watched the media, the DNC and DNC cultists try to resurrect McCarthyism in full force. Anyone who questions or does not march in lockstep with the DNC agenda is summarily convicted of being a Russian asset trying to destroy this country.

Progressive candidates. Russiagate is now being used to attempt to invalidate potential presidential candidates before the 2020 race begins. The Russian asset accusation has been leveled at Tulsi Gabbard, who is a US military veteran and has been in office for years. She stepped down from a DNC top position in 2016 due to improprieties in the DNC process which have since been proven absolutely true and in opposition to the democratic process. However, this is something of a matter of karma. She and Bernie Sanders have been vocal proponents of Russiagate and now it is biting them in the ass.

Who is doing the real damage? She is just one and this is not intended to be a list of names who face false accusations. This is about the damage that Russiagate, not Russia, does to our country. Because if you want to look at damage being done to our country, things which divide us, stop looking at Russia. The McCarthyite accusations do far more damage than Russia could ever hope to achieve if they had such an urge to do so.

Silencing of dialogue. One of the major goals of allegations of Russian alignment is the silencing of dialogue. There is no greater threat to democracy than the silencing of opposing voices or refusing to debate actual issues. Russiagate is being used as a “one size fits all” response to any dissenting opinion which does not fit the “authorized” narrative. Democracy itself is based on the ability of different voices to be heard. Yet the adherents of the Russia narrative use the accusation that some person or some viewpoint is dictated by Putin and no further discussion will be allowed.

Defensive posture. The expectation is that the voice being accused will be forced to go on the defensive to prove they are not a Russian asset in some way. Instead, the absolute best response to these accusations is no response at all. Stick to the issue being discussed and ignore that the accusation was ever made. Force the accuser to discuss the issue.

It doesn’t matter where discussion begins. Let’s make a really simple statement. Russia didn’t cause any of our problems. I have seen accusations that Russia is behind numerous issues in recent years. From Black Lives Matter to universal healthcare to ending warfare to defense spending that goes beyond any sense of reason. Election process and campaign spending. Taxation of the rich. These are real problems that deserve real debate, not false accusations in an attempt to make it seem as though the problem itself does not exist because some candidate, party or media source does not want to address it. So, even if there were any truth to the claim that attention to an issue began with Russia, discussion must begin somewhere. So the best response when someone says an issue came from Russia would be, “Who cares? Let’s talk about it any way.”

Defense spending. We always hear politicians and media pundits talking about “a strong defense” when discussing defense spending. I’ve pointed out before that when all is added together, we spend more on “defense” than every other country on earth combined. I have demonstrated that weapons sales to other countries cost us more money than they make. In only 2 years we have increased defense spending by over $90 billion every single year, with no reduction planned. Ever. Meanwhile we have Americans dying from lack of medical care, exposure from homelessness, suffering chronic health issues from poor nutrition. Suggest addressing those problems and face, “How are you planning to pay for that?” Talk about building or dropping more bombs and you never hear that question. Neither major party opposes spending more on “defense”. Neither one opposes regime change in practice. No corporate media outlet ever opposes the next war or the next or the next.

Weakened alliances. Russiagate has led this country to impose sanctions on other countries. Sanctions are never one sided. They work very much like the trade war affected US farmers. In the case of soybean farmers, China sanctioned us. When we sanction sales of goods to Russia, we punish their trading partners in other countries. Such as farmers in Europe. Or European people who must pay more for oil and gas which they cannot buy from Russia thanks to US Sanctions. Then we threaten our own allies if they choose to avoid sanctions which were never approved by the UNSC. All of this weakens our alliances with other countries, who are turning their backs on us more every day.

Taxing the rich. The media would have you believe that higher taxes on the rich is a Russian idea. First of all, try and explain how this would benefit Russia. It doesn’t. Then, try and explain why taxes on the rich in the US were highest at the height of the Cold War. Which aligns precisely with the time that the middle class had the most growth, the most wealth, the greatest benefits and the most bargaining power in the history of this country. Labor began losing all of this when taxes on the rich were decreased. Not to mention that ever since, small business has seen the highest rate of failure.

Increased wages. If you challenge someone to explain how increased wages in the US benefits Russia, I’d love to listen to their reply. In the same time frame I mentioned above, middle class wages in relation to cost of living were at their highest. Know what else was highest? Cost of production. Because Americans were paid well, had good benefits and taxes were high, cost of production was higher than ever. Yet the economy was doing extremely well. Our national debt was nowhere near as high. Business was expanding because markets were expanding or at least stable. So don’t blame Russia for corporate layoffs to preserve profits for stockholders. That is capitalism doing that.

Universal healthcare. The media and many politicians try to convince you that universal healthcare is a Russian concept. While Russia has universal healthcare, so does every other developed country other than the US. Every one of them has lower cost of care, lower rates of individual financial failure due to medical costs, longer life expectancy and higher quality of life. Since 2012, Mexico has had universal healthcare. Here? No. So try and explain how this is Russia’s fault. We had discussions about universal healthcare in this country in the early 90’s and that was not the first time. Did Russia incite those discussions then?

The real enemy. The real truth is that if Russia or any other opponent, be it a country or non-state power wanted to destroy us, they would be more effective doing so by increasing income inequality, destroying healthcare, increasing defense spending and dividing the populace against each other. Right now, all they have to do is sit back and watch this country implode.

The real enemy is here and has been here all along. The oligarchy, WAR Street is the enemy. They are destroying this country from the inside out and profiting every step of the way. Each time Americans tune in to corporate media, vote for corporate slave candidates, attack imaginary enemies that do not exist, promote Russiagate, refuse to focus on issues, cheer for corporate censorship, vocalize advocacy for wars we have no business in, endorse sanctions that backfire on us, allow our own people to die or go hungry, we are doing the job of any potential enemy, internal or external.

Chew, Swallow, Vomit, Repeat

On occasion, I have to disengage from the direct battle with neoliberals and Conservatives. It’s a practice I suggest all Progressives follow. Give yourself an occasional emotional rest.

One reason I do this is simply because I get tired of dealing with their mindless rote repetition. Virtually none of them think for themselves. This is not saying they are not capable, it’s worse. They are not willing. Memorize, seek reinforcing identical viewpoints, regurgitate. Never follow the profit path, the motivation of the author of the opinion they allow to think for them. Chew, swallow, vomit, repeat.

They pay no attention to minds or voices that are separate from the standard corporate model. Those are voices to be discredited without listening. Dr Richard Wolff, Robert Reich (on economics, not politics), the UN report stating capitalism is a failed model. Don’t read, don’t listen, don’t learn, don’t question.

One thing is absolutely true. When your arguments are rational enough to touch a chord, that’s when they start using insults and invalidation. Attack the source. In my case, they will attack saying I am not popular enough to be listened to. In other cases, they will use any accusation against a popular voice which they can. The accusation doesn’t have to be relevant to a quote or theory. The accusation does not have to be proven in any way. In fact, accusations can be absolutely proven false, as in rape or pedophilia accusations against Julian Assange. That doesn’t stop them from using it. Chew, swallow, vomit, repeat.

I think at this point I have written enough articles going into extreme detail on enough subjects that I can merely post links to previous articles on almost any popular subject. I’ve detailed why a 70% tax rate on the rich is not enough. Why imposing a Maximum Income is a good idea. How Social Democracy is profitable. Why universal healthcare is the best system. How weapons sales cost this country more money than it makes. Why Russiagate is an absolute farce (numerous articles). How the media is the advertising arm of the war industry. Why you should not be listening to corporate advertising or “intelligence professionals” because their specialty is literally brainwashing. How supporting the current system is truly fascism and will get worse. Why the economy and the dollar are doomed to fail. Soon. Catastrophically.

Posting those links or sharing information often feels like it does no good.

If you can manage to drag people kicking and screaming away from their cults (good luck with that), they consistently fall back on false narratives which they have no actual understanding of to begin with. Yet will use them as defense and offense. They can definitely be offensive. Anything to avoid challenging their established world view which they have never bothered to question or examine. Even when that world view locks them into a position which is literally killing them directly. Sit back, turn on corporate media. Cheer for the cult. Wallow in the filth. Chew, swallow, vomit, repeat.

The most frustrating part of all of this is that all of this is based on fear. Americans love to portray themselves as brave and courageous when in fact they are completely ruled by fear. Call it anger, bigotry, hatred, aggression, whatever. Every bit of it is based on fear. Yet too many people feed on this fear voraciously and with wanton gluttonous abandon, seeking it out like drunks on an endless binge. The media is more than happy to keep serving as they collect the profits on the tab. Because that’s what it’s all about to the media. The media doesn’t GAF what damage it does and if people die, they will gain even more money reporting on the deaths while covering up their own complicity.

Think of all the things you are told you must fear on a daily basis. Trump, Hillary, Bernie, third parties, Democrats, Republicans, Muslims, Christians, Atheists, Mexicans, Hondurans, climate change, guns, not having a gun, anyone of a different generation, Socialism, lack of medical care, universal healthcare, unemployment, Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, taxes, black people, white people, Nazis, KKK, men, women, pedophiles, gays, TG people, vaccines, no vaccines, lack of clean water, fire, flood, every bite of food you put in your mouth, hunger, obesity, high blood pressure, bad breath, body odor, wearing the wrong shoes, being rich, being poor, bad tires, shirts not white enough…

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” These words holds great wisdom which has been forgotten or ignored for decades. The more people hold onto fear, the less they open their consciousness to the fact that we have the power to fix our problems. If we stop fearing each other.

I know what the real truth is, though. If we stop being afraid, that means we actually have to take responsibility. Most Americans abhor that idea. The rich don’t want to give up their piles of gold so that the poor can even survive. The warmongers don’t want to stop the bombs. None of the media wants to be brave enough to end the cycle and stop being sensationalistic. That would lose advertisers.

It’s up to us. We cannot put it onto others. It’s up to us to turn off the media. It’s up to us to turn the narrative around. To realize that we don’t need to defeat anyone. To let others live their lives while we live ours. To walk away instead of adding to the hatred.

It is up to us to stop being afraid.

My disengagements are always short. It never means I will stop speaking out.

The Return of David Brock and Correct The Record

Last week, an article by David Brock was published on NBC News. On the surface, he appeared to be attacking Bernie Sanders to preempt a Sanders run in 2020. However, if you fully read the article, what is abundantly clear is that the intent was stating the DNC should avoid any and all Progressives and any Progressive agenda. No, I will not link to that article because I am not advertising in NBC’s favor for publishing it.

Brock is infamous for establishing an army of paid trolls for Hillary during the 2016 campaign called Correct The Record (CTR). During 2016, I moderated 4 Progressive groups on social media and we had a continuous battle to counteract misinformation, personal attacks and porn posts by CTR. Moderators for Progressive groups had to work 24/7 to block CTR trolls before they could inflict extensive damage, have our pages shut temporarily shut down and incite arguments in the middle of a substantive discussion regarding real issues. The attacks were continuous. At one point near the end of the primaries, one group was lucky enough to have a member who was a previous CTR member who provided a copy of their procedure manual, including a partial payment schedule. The rest we figured out by posting patterns. They were paid $0.30 per comment with a maximum of two comments paid. Yes, that was how much value they placed on the democratic process in this country. Though many were not even in this country. Many of them were in Macedonia. Ask anyone who moderated Progressive groups during that time and they will concur this statement. CTR also literally bought out Progressive pages, with one page owner selling the page for $9000.

In the past week, since Brock’s editorial, I have been seeing familiar patterns emerge again. Enrollment of new members to Progressive groups who sow dissension, push names over issues, attempt to divert discussions into a battle of personalities with no substance, personal attacks for not supporting at this point any number of Establishment names, Russophobia to the degree of McCarthyism. None of it is new, it is all a replay of 2016.

One of the ones I find the worst is the sudden influx of alleged Libertarians. Nobody has been hearing from them barely at all since 2016 and suddenly they are again becoming a presence in Progressive forums. Even worse is the belief by some Progressives that Libertarians are somehow aligned with our interests. I will devote a separate piece to Libertarians specifically, so I won’t go into detail on them here. Just understand this: Libertarians promote themselves as being aligned with us on social issues. Yet they oppose funding social programs. Progressives want to increase taxes on the rich, Libertarians want to eliminate taxes. We want increased wages, Libertarians oppose the very existence of a minimum wage.

You cannot support social issues and oppose funding social programs. They basically align with Progressives on two issues- ending wars and legalizing cannabis. Economically they are worse than right-wing Republicans.

The real point here is that their disappearance and sudden reappearance is definitely something to be questioned openly. If they are genuine, they will not be surprised or offended by such questioning.

Keep in mind, this is early 2019, not 2020. The primaries are a full year away. So the deception, division and deception is beginning far earlier than it did for 2016. We are already being inundated with messages promoting centrist candidates and messages. None focus on issues except in vague platitudes. We are hearing attacks against Progressives and Progressive policies on all sides.

It is beyond question that the DNC has learned absolutely nothing since 2016. Not even to use different attempted deceptions or different voices. We’re hearing the exact same faces speaking the exact same words. It will not be long before they are telling us how they do not need us, that we need to be “reasonable”, that we are being childish, that we “just want free stuff”, that we are being manipulated by Russia.. and if you think “But Trump!!!” has been bad until now, just wait. It will become a deafening cacophony that never ends. Our voices will be increasingly censored. Our groups will be banned both electronically and physically from forums and events. They will still beg for our money, though.

I fully expect that Progressives will be forced to create our own forums and venues due to censorship on social media platforms and direct government interference. We will face accusations of violence once again just like Nevada. I wonder if Barbara Boxer will be around to flip us off?

That’s okay. I’m up for it. Are you?

Syrian Troop Withdrawal

On 12/19/18, Trump announced he will order withdrawal of US troops from Syria. By now we should know to hold our elation about such an announcement. Look at what happened with North Korea.

Don’t forget he is still belligerent toward Iran, who is helping Syria. He is also completely unpredictable regarding Russia and Turkey. So we have absolutely no idea what may come next.

With Trump himself, one has to take note of the fact that his announcement is only regarding ground troops. He did not make any announcement that we will not be bombing Syria or supporting Israeli military aggression in Syria.

The response to this announcement by the media was predictable. Corporate media immediately began attacking, claiming this action helps Iran.. and Assad.. and Russia.. and ISIS. Never mind that ISIS opposes Assad (kind of the whole point of ISIS’s presence in Syria), somehow this action helps both Assad and ISIS. How it helps Russia is anyone’s guess.

Of course, he makes the claim that this withdrawal is because the US somehow beat ISIS. If we beat ISIS and not Assad, then were we assisting Assad all along, while claiming Assad is some kind of monster? What happened to all the claims of Assad using chemical weapons on his own people at the most inopportune times over and over and over? Obviously, Russian and Iranian military presence which actually fought on the ground and bombed ISIS military positions had nothing to do with the defeat of ISIS. The US beat ISIS by bombing the Syrian military repeatedly. Because that makes sense.

This announcement also comes right after the announcement of a $5 billion weapons deal with Turkey. Maybe he thinks Turkey is going to invade Syria? Or that Turkey will band with Israel and Saudi Arabia to invade? We can only guess what actions the CIA will be engaging in next to keep our military in Syria.

I’m still waiting for more of a response from “the Resistance” about this. The one thing you can count on is that the response will not be positive. Anyattempt to move away from warfare in any way will be attacked ferociously and they will find some way to twist it into how it gives Mueller more ammunition and Trump should be impeached for withdrawing US troops from a country where our presence has been illegal from the very beginning.

We can also expect corporate media and “the Resistance” to start an aggressive campaign to use this as a further push for war with Russia and most likely Iran. I expect it to be part of the “protect Israel” story they weave.

No matter what, the one thing we should never expect of any of this is that it will be a step further toward peace in any part of the globe. That’s not what our government or media are about. Because “good guys” never want war to end, right?
