US Mercenary Forces

The following was reported on Yahoo News on 20/22/19-

“This withdrawal will take weeks, not days. Until that time our forces will remain in the towns that are located near the oil fields.”

U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper in Kabul on Monday told reporters he’s considering keeping some U.S. troops in northeast Syria to protect oilfields from falling into the hands of Islamic State.

Trump: “I don’t want to leave troops there. It’s very dangerous… I don’t think it’s necessary other than that we secure the oil. It’s in a little different section, but we secure the oil.”

Esper, speaking in front of a Patriot missile battery where he was meeting U.S. troops, said Saudi Arabia had agreed to help underwrite the deployment to the kingdom. He did not provide details on what specifically Saudi Arabia had agreed to pay for.

This is not the first time that the Saudis have offered to pay the US for military servitude. We heard this before under Obama, through John Kerry. At that time the media reported on it as a positive. Remember that?

Of course, the thing which should be most obvious is that Trump and the US Secretary of Defense (sic) both literally admitted that US forces are in Syria not for the sake of the Kurds or any human beings at all. Our forces are there for oil. This is also not a new development. Since US forces entered Syria (and virtually any other Middle Eastern nation), our forces have done far more to defend oil fields than human beings. The administration doesn’t matter.

Of course, admitting this openly is why the media really hates Trump. He reveals the game. He also said very clearly that our government intends to keep Syria’s oil and hand it over to US oil companies. The fact that our government is doing this is no change from the Obama administration, it is only a change in that Trump openly admits to it.

If you were not aware of what was happening before Trump, that’s YOUR fault for not paying attention.

Whether taking money from Saudis for US military service or defending oil fields for the sake of oil corporation profits, the role of the US military should be obvious to any observer at this point. The US military are nothing more than paid mercenaries for hire.

As of 02 Jan 2018, the mission statement for the Department of Defense changed. Where the mission previously stated the mission was to deter war, the new mission statement reads, “The mission of the Department of Defense is to provide a lethal Joint Force to defend the security of our country and sustain American influence abroad.” However, there is no longer any mission statement at all listed on the official DoD website. This wording was the last publicly available version. With no mission statement now publicly available, we have no idea what the mission statement of our military is.

“Sustain American influence abroad.” These are disturbing words. It literally implies no limit to what powers our military can use or respond to and no limit to the excuses our government will claim to wield our military force against any nation that disagrees.

Of course, these words came just before the Nuclear Posture Review was changed to openly state that the US is willing to use nuclear weapons in response to conventional warfare. That’s not a change in practice, just a change in public admission. The truth is the US has never had a “no first strike” policy and we are the only nation to have ever used a nuclear weapon. That one instance was in response to conventional warfare.

Several pundits have stated that Trump is the most honest president we have ever had and I agree. Yes, he lies numerous times a day but he displays the agenda for all to see. Of course, he does this mindlessly, where previous administrations hid our machinations very purposefully. The only difference is whether YOU want the truth or the illusion.

The US has absolutely become a rogue state. Our military presence and actions in the Middle East have nothing to do with the security of the US. Our government supplies or sells weapons to aggressive actors, governmental or NGO. Our military states a mission to sustain American influence, which clearly means maintaining corporate economic dominance because we do not face any military threats from any other nation. We impose murderous sanctions on other nations and, when they violate those sanctions for nothing less than their own mere survival, we use that as an excuse for military aggression including mass murder. Then include the threat of using the most devastating form of weapon ever conceived.

No other nation in the history of mankind has ever waged war on as much of the planet, murdered as many people in cold blood as the US has.

If you read back through history, empire after empire has followed the same trajectory as we are near the end of right this moment. They pillaged, waged war against other nations, seizing resources as though it were a right, enslaving populations, decimating competing economies. That process continued until maintaining the empire became too costly. Lives lost was no problem. The process ended when there were no more resources to seize, no more riches to claim. The peoples of the empire would suffer as taxes increased, resources grew thin and the elitists , unhappy with not having more to grab greedily, took from the non-elite classes. The people were content to close their eyes to corruption as long as they profited. Once they no longer profited from the corruption, it became an issue to address. When profits collapsed, what has brought down nearly every empire in history was not external force, it was internal civil unrest. The citizens of Empire rising up and tearing down the ruling class.

We have the advantage. We have knowledge of history and can learn from it. We have communications which can allow us to form coalitions in short time frames. IF we turn off the propaganda machines. If you refuse, you’re useless. Just another puppet of one Royal House warring against another. We can, at this time, wage a peaceful revolution. Rebuild a nation based on peace, diplomacy, equality and prosperity.

Honestly, I don’t expect it to happen yet. Not until the economy collapses. As Caity Johnstone has pointed out, the largest part of social evolution must be an internal personal evolution. Greed must be silenced, which will only come from too few resources to fuel that greed. The American people have grown arrogant, soft, bloated, obese, privileged, apathetic, selfish, petty and superficial. As a people, we must be reminded of the things that matter as human beings. Call it Fate, Karma, The Hand of God or whatever you wish. I expect that the time of our economic collapse is very, very near.

Now the question becomes: What happens to mercenaries when there is nobody to pay them? Mercenaries know only two currencies- Money and blood.

Pelosi Is No Hero/Red Flag Watch

Everyone is talking about Nancy Pelosi walking out of a meeting regarding the events going on in Syria. Many neoliberals are calling her a hero, as if she accomplished something.

Now tell me. What did she accomplish? What has she stood up for?

The meeting was regarding the potential loss of lives in another country in a conflict which should not involve US forces at all. I have pointed out many times that US presence in Syria is against international law. So, maintaining an illegal presence in another country is what she defends? That’s your hero?

There are conflicting reports about what led up to Pelosi walking out. However, even her own account indicates she got her feelings hurt by abusive language from an abusive man-child. Yet, when making a choice in which she alleges that she is standing up for human rights and safety, her feelings took precedence over those lives.

I’ve covered the fact for days that keeping US forces in the region is not only illegal but threatens to intensify the conflict in the area, costing many more lives than ending the conflict.

Major thing to note is that the corporate media is reporting on CONgress passing a bill to keep US troops in the area as if this were a good thing. They are covering Pelosi walking out of the meeting as if this were a good thing. What they are NOT covering is the fact that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has joined with the Syrian Defense Force (SDF) in northern Syria and they have already pushed to the Turkish border. In the process, confrontations are ending. Many Turkish forces have withdrawn, not wanting to directly confront the Syrian military, as the Syrian and Turkish governments have had peace talks and do not want conflict with each other.

The SDF has been noted to exchange members frequently with the other two Kurdish militias, the PKK and subsidiary YPG, both of which are listed as terrorist organizations by the US State Department. Considering the forces at play, if the SAA can control the SDF and related entities by treaty in the face of certain destruction by Turkey, fine. Nothing the US has done or intends to do will accomplish that control.

What Pelosi was truly standing up for was unending war in foreign sovereign nations. Partly to benefit her war machine “donors” and partly to continue to expand the US Empire. If she had been truly brave and standing up for anything at all, she would have remained in that room.

No matter what, one should notice that Pelosi has not made a single suggestion for ending the conflict. Not this conflict, not any conflict. No mention of peace talks, no suggestion of an arms embargo against Turkey. The actions being taken by she and CONgress only serve to exacerbate and extend conflicts, cost more lives and create more profits for weapons manufacturers.

This is not the first time Pelosi has stomped out of a meeting like an offended pubescent debutante. She has quite a history of it. She never stands her ground when the lives and welfare of others are at stake.

I have not seen any credits for the image being shared widely but tend to highly question how any image was released which came from what was supposed to be a closed-door meeting. Allegedly Trump released the image. The entire thing appears staged. There is no blur anywhere in the image, as though every person there was completely still, waiting for the camera.

One thing Pelosi said was, “All roads lead to Putin.” Really? So, bringing US troops home and ending a conflict without causing millions of deaths is Putin’s idea? I guess so because it sure as HELL isn’t an American idea. Know what other ideas and issues were Putin’s? Questioning anything about Hillary, Black Lives Matter, universal healthcare, increasing wages, increasing taxes on the rich, decreasing military spending and investing in anfrastructure in our own country. That’s according to the DNC. Funny that they never mentioned giving the rich a massive tax break was Putin’s idea. Basically, what they are literally claiming is that anything that brings peace and prosperity to anyone but the ultra-rich must be the idea of an adversarial government. Know what? They may be right because it doesn’t sound like our government at all.

What is clear Pelosi absolutely opposes is any peace process happening between Syria, the Kurds, Turkey, Russia and Iran.

What happens next in Syria? I am literally expecting a red flag event. Probably using chemical weapons. Of course, there has been no time to prepare for it this time. Syrian forces are already in northern Syria. If the Syrian military were going to use chemical weapons at an inopportune time, wouldn’t right now be optimal? We have not yet heard of “intelligence” that a chemical attack was going to happen. No threats about “crossing a red line”. So, if a red flag even happens, this time there will be errors. This time victims would likely involve US and/or Turkish forces, not just civilians. This time, Turkey, a NATO member, will be calling for an OPCW investigation or will join with Syria and Russia to conduct their own. No Americans allowed. Or no investigation will be necessary because there will be witnesses from multiple forces who are not on board. Turkey is not going to engage in any false presentation, knowing how fickle the US government has been toward them. They know they could be next on the chopping block with a false flag.

What If The Kurds Were An American Ethnic Group? Like The KKK?

Lots of people are crying how we need to support the Kurds. Yet they do so without looking into the history of this conflict.

So, let me make a comparison for you. Let’s make a hypothetical comparison of the Kurds to the KKK of the southern US states.

Imagine that the KKK, a white ethic supremacy group with a history of violence, inhabited an area like Texas in a majority. They decide that they want to be autonomous from the state of Texas and claim the resources of the Texas oil fields. Rather than holding peaceful protests, they engage in terrorist activities, attacking the Texas government. At times they join forces with other terrorist groups.

Then the US government starts offering them arms and funding, as long as they keep attacking the Texas government in hopes of overthrowing the Texas government. However, the KKK has grander ideas and also starts attacking the northern Mexican government.

Then the US government places a moderate occupational force of US soldiers in Texas against international law, bombing the Texan forces on multiple occasions. Meanwhile the US government sells advanced arms to the Mexican government at the same time they are arming and funding the KKK with smaller weapons and vehicles.

Meanwhile the Texas government is busy fighting off a larger terrorist group. Both Texas and Mexico consider the KKK to be a terrorist organization. However, both offer to hold peace talks with the KKK. The KKK refuses.

Eventually the US government decides to withdraw support for the KKK. Mexico responds by crossing the border into Texas. This is also an unwelcome invasion in the view of the Texas government.

The KKK, being beaten back and knowing they have no chance of victory against the Mexican army, the KKK agrees to peace talks with the Texas government in return for assistance against Mexico. Texas agrees, as long as the KKK helps fight back the larger terrorist group.

Remember through all of this that the KKK is still the KKK. They still consider themselves superior. They still want to claim resources which do not belong to them. They are still racist and want to drive anyone out of their claimed territory who is not white, fanatical “Christian”, male dominant and anti-gay. They object to even occupying the region with partial autonomy while still being under the laws and government of Texas or Mexico. Any peace treaty they agree to would be highly in question whether they would comply with the terms. Even if more rational moderate leaders negotiate the terms of the agreement, more radical elements still exist in the KKK populace.

Even through the withdrawal of US forces, elements in the US government want to continue making profits from the war, in addition to still having the goal of overthrowing the Texas government. These elements will refuse to mention that the KKK is a known racist, terrorist organization. So they propose legislation to maintain the illegal US military presence and extend the war. There is no stated goal. There is no suggestion of an attempt at a peace process. There is no embargo of arms sales to Mexico.

So, when you view this as hypothetical conditions inside the US instead of in some foreign land, how do you think about it? Would these conditions be acceptable to you? Would you support the KKK?

Actually, The State Department Still Considers Kurdish Militants A Terrorist Group

I have made reference in recent days to the fact that the State Department previously considered the PKK (Kurdish militants) to be a terrorist organization.

In fact, when searching for the 2014 State Dept list of known terrorist organizations, I learned something fairly surprising. The PKK was never taken off the list of terrorist organizations.

Here is what the listing for the PKK says as of 01 March 2019:

State Department Maintains Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) Designation of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)

The Department of State has reviewed and maintained the Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) designation of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), pursuant to Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), as amended (8 U.S.C. § 1189). The PKK was originally designated as an FTO in 1997.

Since designating the PKK over two decades ago, the United States has worked with Turkey and other Allies to counter the terrorist threat from the PKK. The United States maintains a strong commitment to our partnership with our NATO ally Turkey, including fighting PKK fundraising operations in Europe and elsewhere.

Today’s actions notify the U.S. public and the international community that the PKK remains a terrorist organization. In addition to its continued status as an FTO, the PKK has also been designated as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist under Executive Order 13224 since 2001.

Designations of terrorist individuals and groups expose and isolate them, and deny them access to the U.S. financial system. Moreover, designations can assist the law enforcement actions of other U.S. agencies and governments.

End quote.

The YPG is a subsection of the PKK. Amnesty International has this to say about the YPG:

In villages south of the town of Suluk, some residents said YPG fighters had accused them of supporting IS and threatened to shoot them if they did not leave. While in some cases residents acknowledged that there had been a handful of IS supporters in their villages the majority were not supporters of the group.

In other cases, villagers said YPG fighters had ordered them to leave threatening them with US coalition airstrikes if they failed to comply.

“They told us we had to leave or they would tell the US coalition that we were terrorists and their planes would hit us and our families,” said one resident, Safwan.

The YPG has justified the forced displacement of civilians by saying it was necessary for the civilians’ own protection or militarily necessary.

“It is critical that the US-led coalition fighting IS in Syria and all other states supporting the Autonomous Administration, or co-ordinating with it militarily, do not turn a blind eye to such abuses. They must take a public stand condemning forced displacement and unlawful demolitions and ensure their military assistance is not contributing to violations of international humanitarian law,” said Lama Fakih.

Syrian Kurdish Conflict- A Simplified Sequence Of Events- Past, Present, Future

Many Americans are raging against the withdrawal of US troops from northern Syria, claiming that the US government is abandoning the Kurds to the Turkish invasion.

The biggest problem with this is that these Americans have not paid any attention to any part of this conflict except what corporate media has fed them. They are completely unaware of the sequence which led to this point.

So, this is a simplified review of events leading up to this point and where it is most likely to lead in the future.

2014- The YPK, PKK (Kurdish militant groups) and Al Qaeda are listed as extremist terrorist groups by the US government.

2015- All three groups engage in attacks against the Syrian government. This leads to the US State Department downgrading the terminology regarding all three groups from “terrorist organizations” to “moderate rebels”. The US military and CIA begin covertly funding and arming all three groups. This includes Al Qaeda, the leading alleged organization responsible for the attacks on the World trade Center and the Pentagon on 9/11/01.

Each group maintains the same tactics and ideology which they adhered to before this change occurs with no changes other than to become more violent than ever.

These attacks lead to a massive refugee crisis out of Syria, overwhelming neighboring countries and Europe, with thousands dying in the attempt to reach a safe haven.

In response to the terrorist attacks, the Syrian government requests assistance from Russia to repel the attacks. Russia agrees, having a long history of alliance with Syria. Note that Russia has had a naval base in Syria for over 40 years.

Iran offers assistance to repel the terrorist attacks, an offer which is accepted by the Syrian government.

2016- The Syrian government asks the Kurds to participate in peace talks which include the Kurds, Syria, Russia and Iran. The US government discourages the Kurds from participating and refuses to participate as more than passive observer status.

Multiple meetings between Syria, Russia, Turkey and Iran will take place through 2016 through 2018.

Wikileaks releases Hillary Clinton’s emails documenting US funding and support for terrorist organizations. The media conducts a full court blackout on the documents. The revelation forces the Obama administration to end official arms supplies and funding to NGO (non-governmental organizations) militias.

2017/2018/2019- The Syrian Arab Army (official military of Syria), the Russian military and Hezbollah, backed by Iran, show tremendous success in defeating terrorist organizations in Syria, retaking most of the Syrian territories under control of the Syrian government.

2018- Assad wins democratic election as president of Syria.

The Turkish government still considers the Kurdish militia groups to be terrorist organizations. The Turkish military begins incursions into northern Syria to defeat Kurdish militant groups in addition to Al Qaeda and ISIS.

2019- Trump announces withdrawal of US forces from Syria. US forces have been present in Syrian territory illegally since 2015, according to the UN Security Council and UN Peace Council. US forces were never granted permission to be in Syria by the only entities with the authority to grant legality to their presence- The UN Security Council, the Syrian government or the Russian government.

The media portrays the withdrawal as an abandonment of the Kurds, still considered terrorists by Turkey and Syria. No mention of the illegal status of US forces is reported by corporate media. No mention of the previous designation as terrorist organizations is mentioned. No mention that Syria and Turkey consider them terrorist organizations at this time.

Turkey increases the intensity of the attacks on the Syrian Kurds.

The Kurdish militia requests assistance from the Syrian government and strike a deal with the Assad administration to participate in peace talks. The Syrian military mobilizes to assist the Kurds and drive the Turkish military out of Syria.

This brings us up to the present. So, what can we expect to happen in the future?

Most likely it can be expected that the Turkish government will withdraw from Syria, either before engaging the Syrian military or shortly after beginning to do so. Mention has been made of establishing a no fly zone over northern Syria. However, this would lead to a direct confrontation with Russian air forces, while Russia has not agreed to the no fly zone. Even if the US attempts to force the issue, expect Turkey to retreat from the suggestion, not wanting military confrontation with Russia.

Expect to hear more attempts at peace talks between the Kurds, Syria, Turkey, Russia and Iran. Without US intercession, these peace talks are highly likely to succeed, building a coalition between all countries involved. These peace talks will go unreported by corporate media.

In response, expect the US to intensify sanctions against Turkey, the member of the coalition with the current fewest sanctions imposed upon them.

All or part of the coalition will drive the remainder of terrorist forces from central and northern Syria.

Then expect the coalition governments to offer similar assistance to the Iraqi government, which will be accepted. Then the enlarged and strengthened coalition will set their sights on Yemen, driving out Saudi forces permanently.

By the end of all of this, expect all of the coalition countries to turn to attempts at peace efforts with Saudi Arabia and Israel, by willing invitation or by brute force. The US will likely be unwelcome to participate in these peace efforts.

Sanctions Won’t Help. Here’s What Would.

There is a bipartisan bill seeking to impose sanctions on Turkey in response to Trump’s withdrawal of US troops from Syria. In response to the US withdrawal, Turkey has planned a massive invasion of norther Syria, occupied by the Kurds.

So the question becomes, will sanctions help the situation? The answer is- It’s not that simple.

This move is really nothing but theater. Consider the fact that the US is still selling arms to Turkey. Remember (or did you even hear about) the arms deals to sell F35’s and Patriot missiles systems to Turkey? Nothing about the sanctions does anything to stop those deals.

What may actually help would be an arms embargo. Then again, an arms embargo would help Yemen, as well. You are not going to hear mention of the mere suggestion of an arms embargo because that would anger the weapons contractors who “donate” massive sums to political campaigns and spend fortunes lobbying. When arms manufacturers stand to lose money, you will not hear anything of that idea.

Have you noticed that the media never even mentions Yemen? Or the fact that our presence in Syria is still illegal under international law? They have not mentioned the Kurds at all unless there is the suggestion of ending one of our wars.

Turkey has had an ongoing attack against the Kurds for quite some time now. While US troops have been present in northern Syria. Has our presence helped the Kurds? Have we defended them? No, unless you consider that Turkish forces coordinated with US forces to avoid striking areas where US troops were present. Likewise, US troops moved so as to allow Turkish attacks to occur.

Peace talks could help. Notice that CONgress in no way suggests moderating and engaging in peace talks between all sides? Part of that is because if you involve all parties involved, that would include the Kurds, Turkey, Syria, Russia, Iran and the US. Yes, it would mean our government would have to sit down and speak rationally with Syria, Russia and Iran, all at the same time. Can you imagine a world where that would happen without the US being threatened with extinction?

Unequal armament. For years, the US has been supplying the Kurds with weapons while also selling weapons to Turkey. The difference is that we have supplied the Kurds with small to medium arms in relatively small amounts. To the Turks we have been selling massive amounts of smaller arms, moderate amounts of intermediate size weapons and systems while selling or trying to sell our largest weapons systems to the Turks. So, we have intentionally given an advantage to the Turks from day one.

US proxies, US puppets. The Kurds have been US proxies, allegedly to fight ISIS and Al Qaeda but in reality their purpose was opposition to Assad. Yet the Kurds have been clear all along that they want to carve an independent country out of northern Syria, norther Iraq and southern Turkey. In Iraq, they have an area which is largely self-governed yet still part of Iraq. Assad has suggested a similar arrangement in Syria, which the Kurds have refused, while Turkey and the US oppose the very idea.

Keep Israel out of this. Israel has stated they would offer shelter and assistance to any Kurds displaced by this conflict. If you want to see how Israel treats oppressed populations, look at Palestine. Israel has no respect for sovereignty, as they are illegally occupying Palestine and the Golan Heights in Syria. Israel has openly admitted to aiding and assisting Al Qaeda terrorists. What they are attempting to do is assist anyone who opposes Syria and Iran. Look at a map. Israel is at the southern edge of Syria, while the Kurds and Turkey are at the northern edge of Syria. To offer any direct assistance to the Kurds, Israel would have to illegally traverse part of Syria. Also take into consideration that, like all their neighboring countries, Israel does not get along well with Turkey. Neighboring countries in general hate Israel so much that even if they are adversarial against one another, they will unify against Israel. Have you ever had a neighbor like that?

I really don’t care how much you want to use this as yet again another reason to hate Trump. Withdrawing from Syria is the right thing to do. We never had any business there in the first place. We consistently make situations worse, not better.

However, withdrawing is not enough. The actions I mentioned which would actually help are things which you will not hear political parties, elected officials or corporate media make any suggestion of. If anyone does suggest these things, they will be silenced, censored, oppressed and attacked viciously.

Peace or supporting the Kurds has nothing to do with any of the opposition to withdrawal. The point is to keep our forever wars going and use this against Trump. As long as YOU keep focusing on just one name, you will NEVER understand what is actually happening. You will not even TRY. Throughout this affair, have you stopped to question and consider any of the actual SOLUTIONS I have suggested? Or have you just been reacting emotionally?

If YOU want change then YOU must change. If YOU want peace, then YOU must demand peace. That’s not what you’re doing. Is it?

US Presence In Syria Is Still Illegal

With Trump stating he wants to withdraw US forces from Syria, he is doing something surprising. Ending the ILLEGAL occupation of a foreign country by US forces.

Of course, the “resistance” is completely freaked out. What? END one of our forever wars? Unthinkable.

First, the illegal part. From the very first US tire track or footprint by US troops on Syrian soil, from the very first flyover by US jets, our presence in Syria has been in violation of international law. Our presence in Syria has NEVER been approved by the UN Security Council, the Syrian government (democratically elected) or the Russian government (legally present in Syria by invitation of the legal Syrian government to fight ISIS and Al Qaeda). These are the ONLY entities with the authority to grant legal permission for US military presence in Syria.

Why are we there? Have you noticed how many The claim being made by the “resistance” is that our purpose in Syria is to support the Kurds. Really? That comes as news to me. I could have sworn our presence in Syria was to fight against ISIS and Al Qaeda. Or is it to support the Syrian people against Assad? Or is it to protect Israel against Syria and Iran?

You’ll notice the rationale for our presence there keeps on changing. Yet none of those rationales make sense when examined.

Arming all sides. Turkey has had a long history of animosity toward the Kurds. It was only a few months ago that our government was arming the Kurds to assist in the fight against ISIS and also fight against Turkey. Thus our presence was needed for that reason. Meanwhile, our government was also arming Turkey and trying desperately to sell F35 fighter jets and Patriot missile systems to Turkey. Meanwhile, Wikileaks has shown conclusively that our government was funding ISIS and Al Qaeda. Without that evidence, as terrorists have withdrawn from geographic areas in Syria, the caches they have left behind have been documented to be over 70% American made weapons.

Israel helping terrorists. Israel admitted publicly to providing shelter and medical care to Al Qaeda terrorists.

What parts of Syria are we occupying? Notice that the areas that US forces have been occupying all have high concentrations of oil production facilities.

Both Turkey and Syria consider Kurdish extremists to be terrorists. It becomes deeply questioning when both countries that the Kurdish militia opposes consider them to be terrorists.

Safe zone? Turkey is claiming they wish to establish a “safe zone” to move immigrants from Syria back into Syria. Here is the problem with that. The people they are seeking to displace are not all from Syria. They are combatants from various countries who have fought for terrorist organizations. This is a clear attempt to implant known terrorists who fled Syria after being defeated right back into Syria.

Who has made attempts at peace? The Kurds have stated a desire to establish their own country and separate from Syria. That is, as long as they can claim oil rights in the northern Syrian territory. Assad has refused this idea yet has made numerous efforts to hold peace talks with the Kurds, while Russia offered to host the talks in neutral territory. The Kurds have refused. The Kurds were invited to take part in multiple peace talks which have taken place and involved Syria, Turkey, Iran and Russia. Each time the Kurds have refused. So has the US.

What happens now? If US forces withdraw from Syria, as they should, then certain events will take place which can be predicted. The Kurds will not have the resources to withstand the assault by Turkey. They will then have one choice. They will be forced to turn to Assad for assistance. This would then lead to direct talks between Assad (Syria) and Erogan (Turkey) in peace efforts. This time, the Kurds will have no other choice than to actively engage in peace talks with both countries. At this point, it will take huge efforts by the Kurds to prove that they are committed to any peace process. Which may well involve their complete voluntary disarmament.

Who is the warmonger? When all of this is taken into consideration, anyone opposing the withdrawal of US troops from Syria must consider themselves to be the true warmonger. Any continued occupation by US forces does nothing to help any party involved except the US Military Industrial Complex. Who do you really think is behind the opposition every single time our withdrawal is even suggested?

“But Trump” Yeah, go ahead and keep screaming at the top of your lungs how much you support peace, how Trump is a warmonger and monster. Then again, if you really support US military presence, sign up. Tell your children and grandchildren to sign up. Get a uniform on, put your life and their lives on the line. Admit you do not GAF how much these wars cost because YOU want them to continue and YOU want MORE wars. No matter WHAT it costs in money or lives. Even when that involvement is illegal.

Progressive my ass.

Leave Syria Alone

Since Trump announced ground troops would be leaving Syria soon, we have seen a lot of controversy and a lot of questions have been raised.

First, be clear on the fact that he only talked about ground troops. In no way has he stated that we would no longer be bombing the country. So it is very possible that US forces may continue bombing Syria unabated.

The neoliberal centrists have thrown absolute fits. Now claiming that we should remain in Syria to “protect the Kurds”. Of course, this line is repeated over and over by the mindless sycophants, most of whom had never heard of Kurds before a few months ago, probably a majority of whom never heard of Kurds before a few days ago. That’s when they were instructed what to think by corporate media in between ads from military contractors and clips of pro-war speeches by Hillary and the DNC elite.

What the corporate media fails to mention is the fact that the Kurds have met on multiple occasions with Assad in an attempt to reach a peaceful arrangement. They have, up to now, rejected any arrangement offered because they want to break Syria into multiple parts to form a new Kurdish nation.

Another thing they fail to point out is the fact that the biggest threat the Kurds face right this moment is by Turkey. The same Turkey to whom the US has been selling weapons for years, possibly decades and continue to do so. The same Turkey which is a member of NATO. The same Turkey which is home to Incirlik Air Base, which hosts forces of Turkey, the US, UK, Saudi Arabia and Spain. Yet we are going to help “protect” the Kurds from Turkey? Really?

The US is also giving money to Israel, then selling them weapons. So we are literally paying for the weapons Israel is buying. What does Israel do with those weapons or at least part of them? Attack Syria. The rest they use to attack Palestine.

Then we buy oil from Saudi Arabia. Who funds terrorists. To attack Syria and Yemen. We sell weapons to Saudi Arabia. So we are funding Saudi terrorism in the worst human rights atrocities since at least Pol Pot in Cambodia. Whom we supported directly and indirectly.

I’ve already written in the past how our weapons are sold at a loss. That article is here: https://medium.com/@russellmeyers_35963/arms-sales-create-jobs-cf4eec9a714c

The media also fails to point out the fact that our very presence in Syria has always been illegal. It was never authorized by Syria or Russia or the UN Security Council. Those are the only entities that could have issued authorization. Russia is in Syria legally because their assistance was requested by the Syrian government. Iran is in Syria legally because they offered assistance and it was accepted.

Some claim we are assisting Israel, yet Israel has militarily occupied the Golan Heights since 1966 illegally according to the UN.

Keep in mind that the US has not won a single military campaign since WWI, if even then. Even WWII was won more by Russia than the US and allies. Yet we have been at war in some form nearly every single year of the existence of this country.

Keep in mind that when the US steps back, there are typically greater chances for peace in other countries. It is when we get involved that military tensions ratchet up dramatically. While I am no fan of Trump and do not trust him, try and name the last time a sitting president engaged in peace talks with any country in a meaningful way. Then try and name the last time our country engaged in peace talks without imminent threat of invasion, bombing, etc.

Try and name the last time this country was directly threatened. Our government makes continuous claims that there have been attacks or threats to “our assets”. Meaning our military installations. Which reside in nearly every country on earth. If our military installations did not exist in other countries, they could not be threatened. They are threatened or attacked because of our involvement in the affairs of countries in which we truly have no rightful business except as intermediaries. Yet how often are we intermediaries, rather than primary actors of force and suppression? How many violent dictators have we installed or assisted to power? The Taliban, Saddam Hussein, Pol Pot, Pinochet and the list goes on. How many elections have we interfered in? How many leaders have we overthrown? How many times have we ignored the will of the United Nations Security Council and even the General Assembly?

How much of our lives can we spend in terror that some other country may go some direction which we have not dictated? How much of our nation’s wealth can we steal from our own citizens to spend on bombs, bullets, aircraft carriers, drones, missiles, nuclear weapons? How many chemical weapons in the form of depleted uranium and white phosphorous can we use on other countries, then bomb a government when our proxy terrorists use chlorine or there has been no attack at all?

How many Americans must go without medical care, food housing, education and jobs so we can keep paying for the profits of military contractors? For every penny paid to them, we lose a penny which can benefit our own people.

We cannot afford to wage any more wars. We don’t have the money and we cannot borrow the money. No, it does not create jobs. No, it does not make us safer. No, it does not make our allies safer.

It is time for the American Empire to fall, to fail. It is time to bring our troops home. It is time to stop building bombs and start building bridges and schools. It is time to let the military contractors go broke. It is time to use diplomacy. Words rather than weapons. Before the rest of the world makes our decision for us.

Syrian Troop Withdrawal

On 12/19/18, Trump announced he will order withdrawal of US troops from Syria. By now we should know to hold our elation about such an announcement. Look at what happened with North Korea.

Don’t forget he is still belligerent toward Iran, who is helping Syria. He is also completely unpredictable regarding Russia and Turkey. So we have absolutely no idea what may come next.

With Trump himself, one has to take note of the fact that his announcement is only regarding ground troops. He did not make any announcement that we will not be bombing Syria or supporting Israeli military aggression in Syria.

The response to this announcement by the media was predictable. Corporate media immediately began attacking, claiming this action helps Iran.. and Assad.. and Russia.. and ISIS. Never mind that ISIS opposes Assad (kind of the whole point of ISIS’s presence in Syria), somehow this action helps both Assad and ISIS. How it helps Russia is anyone’s guess.

Of course, he makes the claim that this withdrawal is because the US somehow beat ISIS. If we beat ISIS and not Assad, then were we assisting Assad all along, while claiming Assad is some kind of monster? What happened to all the claims of Assad using chemical weapons on his own people at the most inopportune times over and over and over? Obviously, Russian and Iranian military presence which actually fought on the ground and bombed ISIS military positions had nothing to do with the defeat of ISIS. The US beat ISIS by bombing the Syrian military repeatedly. Because that makes sense.

This announcement also comes right after the announcement of a $5 billion weapons deal with Turkey. Maybe he thinks Turkey is going to invade Syria? Or that Turkey will band with Israel and Saudi Arabia to invade? We can only guess what actions the CIA will be engaging in next to keep our military in Syria.

I’m still waiting for more of a response from “the Resistance” about this. The one thing you can count on is that the response will not be positive. Anyattempt to move away from warfare in any way will be attacked ferociously and they will find some way to twist it into how it gives Mueller more ammunition and Trump should be impeached for withdrawing US troops from a country where our presence has been illegal from the very beginning.

We can also expect corporate media and “the Resistance” to start an aggressive campaign to use this as a further push for war with Russia and most likely Iran. I expect it to be part of the “protect Israel” story they weave.

No matter what, the one thing we should never expect of any of this is that it will be a step further toward peace in any part of the globe. That’s not what our government or media are about. Because “good guys” never want war to end, right?
